The Wanted Calls In: Talks One Direction, The Term “Boy Band”

If you’ve been living under a bubble during the past year, than you might have missed what is being called “the new British invasion”. First Adele came to the US and broke record after record, and now there’s a NEW crop of boy bands who’re hoping to have that same cross-over success.

The band who is in the forefront consists of Max, Siva, Tom, Nathan, and Jay (in no important order of course!) otherwise known as The Wanted. Their first single “Glad You Came” has been a smash hit, as it climbed quickly through Cannon’s Countdown. On top of that, THIS week Glad You Came hit the top spot!

I had a chance to talk with The Wanted this week for the Top Thirty countdown! I’ve been rocking “Glad You Came” for months now! When  about how they are dealing with their success, they replied “Well, it’s been pretty overwhelming! I mean we are kind of taking it in our strides…we didn’t know how radio was going to take on to it…but the song has been just an absolute smash.”

In regards to them being called a boy band they said “Everyone’s been calling it more of a man-band over here in the UK. But we are more older..23 and 24.”

And how about that OTHER boy band from the UK, One Direction? “I think everyone likes a rivalry…I mean there was The Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync…but really, there is no rivalry.”
